The Residential Building Fires program takes an in depth look at fires that have plagued the fire service for the last few years. These include garage fires with extension, basement fires and attic fires. We will spend the first hour reviewing residential building construction, paying particular attention to the ever changing use of light-weight construction. Then we will dive into how simple fires can become complex events when the wrong tactics are used. Tactical decision making for the first and second lines is of extreme importance and if positioned properly even an advanced fire can be placed under control quickly.
